Charlbury Art Society
Charlbury Art Society welcomes all with an interest in the arts.
Its membership includes practicing artists, professional and amateur, alongside anyone with an interest or curiosity in the arts. It was founded in 1988 and currently has over 160 members.
The group meets at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month in The Memorial Hall, Charlbury (except June, July and August). Guest artists and speakers are invited to give demonstrations or illustrated talks during these meetings. See Calendar
The group holds a Members’ Exhibition twice a year, one in the spring and one in the autumn in Charlbury.
Coach trip days out to a gallery or exhibition are organised, to a diverse range of galleries and places. Workshops in a variety of media are held from time to time, as well as outdoor painting days during the Summer months. The Charlbury Festival (held in June 2017) was a new venture.
Membership is by annual subscription(£10), offering free entry to all the monthly evening meetings, as well as the opportunity to exhibit your work twice a year, and discounts at a number of local businesses supplying artists materials and framing services. Download membership form.
The Members Gallery offers an individual area for artists to display their work on line and can include up to six images (with title, medium, size and price) plus a short artist’s biography and contact details. The cost to individual artists for this will be £5 a year payable in January of each year. Download gallery form. The artists images and details should be emailed to the website.
