Charlbury Art Society

Charlbury Art Society welcomes all with an interest in the arts.

Its membership includes practicing artists, professional and amateur, alongside anyone with an interest or curiosity in the arts. It was founded in 1988 and currently has over 160 members.

Membership is by annual subscription(£10), offering free entry to all the monthly evening meetings, as well as the opportunity to exhibit your work twice a year. Download membership form.

The group meets at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month in The Memorial Hall, Charlbury (except June, July and August).  Guest artists and speakers are invited to give demonstrations or illustrated talks during these meetings.  Non-members are welcome to attend (£5 entry). Details of meetings can be found on the Charlbury town website  under “What’s on”.

The group holds a Members’ Exhibition twice a year, one in the spring and one in the autumn in Charlbury or at a nearby venue.

Coach trip days out to a gallery or exhibition are organised, to a diverse range of galleries and places. Workshops in a variety of media are held from time to time, as well as outdoor sketching days during the Summer months.

The Charlbury Festival (first held in June 2017) was a new venture, and is now held every other year. The June 2022 festival programme can be downloaded here.
