Jackie Garner – Uncovering Ancient Egypt
January 10, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Discoveries of a Wildlife Art Detective uncovering ancient Egypt.
Jackie Garner is a Gloucestershire artist, who is inspired by the natural world. During her last visit to Charlbury Art Society she gave a presentation on female Impressionist painters. Now she takes us further back in time to the art of the ancient Egyptians. Jackie is currently illustrating a research project investigating how wildlife was depicted in ancient Egyptian art, a fusion of art and science that has led to ground-breaking discoveries.
Ancient Egyptian art has some of the most beautifully restrained, and the most outrageously flamboyant, images ever seen. This presentation looks at the portrayal of the natural world in ancient Egypt, including art techniques, wildlife imagery and wonderful sights viewed during a research trip from Alexandria to Abu Simbel.
