Landscapes and African Wildlife in Oils
Lee now lives in Charlbury, but from birth has lived most of her life in other countries around the world. She has always painted but has never had any formal training, gaining what she can from workshops and classes and going on painting holidays usually in Africa or France, and other places where she has lived. After moving to England some years ago she has exhibited in many local venues such as Art of Africa (Fillingdon Fine Art) , the Sycamore Gallery, the (former) Cotswold Art Exhibition, Carterton Lions, Cotswold Frames, Dartington Hall, exhibitions in Oxford, Woodstock and in Charlbury, The Artyard Café and Obsidian Art, and was invited to show at a large prestigious exhibition in Shropshire. She is an active member of Oxfordshire Art Weeks.
She paint directly on to the canvas with thinned turpsy paint, and when not painting en plein aire uses her own photographs and sketches as aides memoire. She says that the most difficult part of painting is, as always, knowing when to stop.
