Each year the children of the Primary School take part in the Street Fair Art Exhibition, sponsored by The Charlbury Art Society.
The theme this year is ONCE UPON A YEAR… chosen because there are so many important anniversaries to celebrate in 2016!
Some are very well known, such as: 50 years since England won the World Cup, the death of William Shakespeare 400 years ago, and Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, but did you know that the bells in St Mary’s Church Charlbury are 300 years old this year, or the Cub Scouts celebrate their centenary, or that Roald Dahl was born 100 years ago, on September 13th
A great deal of effort had been put into this competition by all the children, producing some clever ideas and some careful and colourful artwork.
Congratulations to the winners.
1st Conrad Morton aged 10
2nd Oliver Shawcross aged 10
3rd Bailey Burroughs aged 6
Their pictures will go to Cotswold Frames to be displayed in the window and Conrad will have his artwork specially framed by Tim Widdows. Conrad, Oliver and Bailey will be presented with special prizes by the Charlbury Art Society at the opening of the Street Fair at 2pm on Saturday 17 September.
All the children’s artwork will go on display at the main Charlbury Art Society Exhibition in the Memorial Hall during the Street Fair, where the children will be able to take their parents along to see their work. Look out for the those chosen as **HIGHLY COMMENDED**
